Chantel LaRiviere
Chantel LaRiviere is a policy manager at Parks Canada. She is part of a team that has been advancing policy work on an Indigenous Stewardship Framework for Parks Canada centred around a vision of protected area management and governance that respectfully aligns with Indigenous ways of stewarding lands, water, and ice.
Chantel leads work on the Indigenous knowledge systems and acknowledgments components of the framework. She is also a member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, located in Neyaashiinigmiing, Ontario.
She holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph where she completed a thesis based on original research related to Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous principles for harvest management in her home community of Neyaashiinigmiing.
