On March 23, 2022 we explored how the principle of Two-Eyed Seeing has inspired conservation practice across what is now known as Canada to observe, understand and act by drawing on a diversity of knowledge systems.

This special Collection—Conservation in Canada: Identifying and Overcoming Barriers—examines the political barriers to conservation as well as possible pathways forward in addressing the twin crises of biodiversity collapse and climate change.

This session explores what Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) is, why it’s important, challenges for realizing respect for TEK in conservation and environmental sustainability, and opportunities for the future.
